GAME RECAPS

Knights Fall to the Tigers

The Lady Knights played Tucker in the third game of the 3rd annual MLK tournament held at Centennial on Monday, January 18.  The Lady Knights struggled to keep Tucker's lead to no more than 10-12 points in the first three quarters. Finally, in the fourth quarter, the Lady Knights forced their opponent to turn the ball over. With 20 seconds left, Paige Biringer made all of her 3 foul shots to cut the lead to 2.  Unfortunately, they were unable to tie the game and Tucker won 61 to 57.  Paige Biringer led the team with 16 points, Morgan Moynihan with 15, Ashley Rosenberg 10, Lindsey Rosenberg 9, and Megan Veringa 7.

Knights Drop One to the Raiders

With senior Morgan Moynihan out for a week after a head injury in the Pope game, the Knights fell 72-38 to the Walton Raiders.  The Knights looked to be making a comeback, bringing the game within 10 after a 17 point deficit.  But Moynihan’s absence began to show as the Raiders gradually pulled the game out of reach. Ashley Rosenberg led the Knights with 15 (her season high).  Brooke Koblitz also had her season high of 6 points and Katie William had hers with 4.  Paige Biringer had 5, Megan Veringa had 4, and Lauren Spence had 2.

Knights Come Up Short Against the Greyhounds

On Tuesday January 12th, Centennial hosted their annual “Pink Out” game supporting breast cancer awareness against the Pope Greyhounds. At the end of the first quarter, it looked to be a close game, with the Knights only trailing by one, 13-14. But late in the second quarter, Captain Morgan Moynihan left the game with a head injury sustained after being stepped on by a Pope player. With Moynihan’s absence, the Greyhounds pulled ahead, beating the Knights 43-33. Despite playing only two quarters, Moynihan lead the Knights with 10 points, followed by Paige Biringer with 8, Ashley Rosenberg with 7, and Lindsey Rosenberg with 6.

Knights Turn It Around Against Sprayberry

After a 34-46 loss less than a month ago, the Knights showed great improvement in their second game against Sprayberry. At the end of the first quarter, the Knights were down 10-12. Then, with five minutes left in the first half, the Knights went on a nine point scoring drive, and walked off the court leading 25-16 at halftime. The Knights remained on top for the rest of the game, improving their overall record to 4-6. The Knights were lead by Paige Biringer with 17 points, followed by Morgan Moynihan with 13, Ashley Rosenberg with 11, and Lindsey Rosenberg with 5.

Knights Defeat Central Gwinnett

The Lady Knights knocked off Central Gwinnett on the road Friday night 50-38 behind five three-pointers from Paige Biringer.  The Knights came back strong after a slow start and overcame a 21-18 deficit by outscoring Central 32-17 in the second half.  Biringer had 19 while Morgan Moynihan finished with 12, Lindsey Rosenberg had eight, and Ashley Rosenberg seven. The Lady Knights will return to the court Dec. 30 at Centennial against Sprayberry at 3 pm.
